IOM Vacancy in Nepal


IOM Nepal :Nepal became an IOM member state in 2006. In 2007, the Government of Nepal (GoN) and IOM signed a Cooperation Agreement to encourage cooperation and the delivery of services to Nepal, which is a country of origin, transit and destination of migration. IOM’s initial focus was on the resettlement of Bhutanese refugees. Since then, IOM has expanded significantly both in terms of programme areas and target populations and has been contributing to the government of Nepal’s efforts to manage migration more effectively through a wide range of programmes such as Refugee ResettlementMigration and HealthEmergency ResponseDisaster Risk Reduction and ResilienceLand, Property & ReparationMigration, Environment and Climate ChangeLabor MigrationMigrant Assistance & Protection; and Migration & Development. IOM Nepal also supports Regional Consultative Processes on Migration  with technical expertise, policy guidance, research, capacity building and targeted project initiatives.
IOM is a member of United Nations Country Team and works within the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) whose strategic areas are derived from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Nepal’s Fourteenth National Development Plan.

Context: 
Under the overall supervision of Chief Migration Health Officer and direct supervision of Migration Health Officer, the Intern will assist with the following operational activities of the Migration Health Division of the mission. Tasks will include:
Core Functions / Responsibilities: 
1.Work with the Migration Health Officer on public health especially migration health related activities and operational procedures of IOM Development Fund and TB Reach Projects of the mission. This may include responsibilities related administrative and logistical arrangement of office and operational activities, as well as follow-up of the following activities; 
  • Assist with operational aspects of the migration health programme in conjunction with program staffs, Migration Health Assessment Center's admin staff and field staff;
  • Attend internal meetings related to operational areas of IOM's migration health activities;
  • Interact with IOM partners on relevant migration health related activities;
  • Assist with the preparation of situational and statistical reports on activities as assigned;
  • Assist the team with the development of new projects and expansion of existing projects in the areas of migration health; and
  • Undertake all other tasks as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Public Health/Social Science/Social Work or related discipline from an accredited academic institution; 
  • Candidate with Master's Degree in Public Health or Social Work with interest to work in Migration Health are encouraged to apply.
Languages
Fluency in English, Nepali is required.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment. Only Nepali Nationals will be considered for this position.
